How to choose good Tanning Lotion
Unlike sun block lotion, tanning lotion is intended to increase the effect of UV rays instead of blocking them. This is typically done by using ingredients that promotes production of melanin, or by increasing an individual’s blood flow so that melanin is rapidly produced. People act differently to ingredients used in tanning lotion. Many tanning lotions contain bronzers, typically this bronzers are DHA. The DHA or dehydroxy acetone is combined with other ingredients used in tanning. Most of the active ingredients found in tanning lotion contain melanin and L tyrosine. Tanning lotions are typically manufactured with ingredients that will not cause or damage the surface of the skin. This is because tanning can dehydrate the skin that is why additional moisturizers are added to recompense the natural moisture that is lost during tanning. The first moisturizing ingredients in tanning lotion is the same ingredient used in regular hand lotion, the only different is that, tanning lotions has lesser alcohol content.
There are tanning lotions label a warning that they do not guarantee protection from the sun but it is still good to used tanning lotions for that purpose only. So how do you choose a tanning lotion? The used of a tanning lotion indoors or outdoors is important. There are several products displayed on the market today. You have to select one that will help you in developing a beautiful dark tan that will keep you natural looking.
- Read lotion ingredient carefully and find moisturizer such as vitamin E, aloe Vera, cocoa butter or a combination of these. These ingredients will help you seal moisture from your skin. Not only that, these ingredients also will lessen the drying effects of sun or tanning bed.
- Select a lotion that contains UVA protection. Whether you are using a tanning bed, or outside tanning UVA is always present on this type of activity.
- Choose whether you want a tanning lotion that contains a tan accelerator. These lotions mostly contain tyrosine that helps to hasten the production of skin melanin.
- Why not try using a tingle tanning lotion that contains Benzyl or Methyl Nicotinate. These substances will increase the level of skin‘s oxygen. The more oxygen our skin has, the darker it tans.
- Look for the level of a tanning lotion you are eyeing at. Level 1 and 2 is for fair skin, level 3 is for middle color skin and level 4 is for naturally darker skin.
- Try a product that contains copper. If you have small scar, this product is effective in reducing scar visibility.
- Try a lotion that contains a bronzer, if you want a bronze look. This kind of tanning lotion has ingredients that dye the skin to a dark hue.
- Lastly choose a tanning lotion that is mildly scented. A good aroma will help you to relax. Many tanning lotions in the market that offers scented tanning lotions like chocolate, mint, fruit flavors and coffee flavors.
