How do we communicate? It is through our lips, right? As humans we have been given a capacity to talk. In every transaction that we have there is no means of communication we use but through talking. But what if, due to improper care of our teeth, we possess a bad breath and oral problems? Does bad breath embarrass you? Imagine seeing people covering their nose during the conversation because of this. But you are not alone; almost 35-45 % of the world’s population has a bad breath. Quite disturbing, but true.
There are many factors resulting this problem, poor oral hygiene is one of the contributing factors why suffer conditions such as this.Oral care doesn’t only mean cleaning our teeth, it also includes cleaning the gums and tongue. Let’s face the fact that food digestion begins in our mouth and teeth. It needs to be cleaned at least twice a day to achieve a healthier teeth and pleasant smelling breath. Nowadays, oral care business has done a lot of breakthroughs, oral care remedies like mouthwash; tooth brushes, toothpastes, and other oral care products, made oral care reachable for all of us.
Caring for our oral health avoids us from having oral diseases. Smoking also is one of the factors that causes discoloration on our teeth and often cause of multiple oral disease. There are many things we should consider on caring for our oral health:
- We must eat a healthy and balanced diet. Lessen sugar intake.
- If necessary, skip in between meals.
- Brush your teeth at least twice a day. And replace your toothbrush every 3 months, worn toothbrush lessen the cleaning capacity of the toothbrush.
- Use a tongue cleaner, to clean the build up bacteria and fungi in your tongue which causes halitosis. This enables you to have a fresh breath.
- Gums should be cleaned too
It is also good to use mouthwash to improve the oral hygiene. Dental floss is excellent in taking the plaques in between teeth. And if you are using braces and retainers make sure that it is properly cleaned.
Oral care is so important; a good oral hygiene gives us more ability to communicate more. Let us not take this for granted, taking care of our oral health does not only makes us feel good it also makes us achieve more in our careers and throughout our lives. I am not saying that having a bad breath is a crime. I just like you to have a clearer view on what this circumstance may result in our lives not just on our physical aspect but also in the total health aspect. It is important to consider going to a dentist twice a year for total dental cleaning. Our diet will play important role in our oral care, it is good thing to lessen the intake of food that contains carbohydrates and drink like sodas and fruit juice contains acid that may harm the tooth enamel.
