Living Health

For most of us who are living today, whenever we hear the word health, food and exercise always come to mind. However, food and exercise just makes our bodies healthy and strong. What about our mind and spirit? Living health is all about a healthy lifestyle.

To be truly healthy, our body, mind and soul (or spirit to some) should all be in sync with each other. What will I do with my healthy body if my mind is full of unhealthy stuff that makes my spirit want to cry out in pain? Living health is a way of life that makes our body and mind fit and strong making our spirit cry out in joy.

Of course, everybody wants living a life full of joy, no matter what our status is. Many of us already heard this phrase many times… in the search of true happiness. Living health is one way of searching happiness. We all have our versions of what true happiness is, but many of us will surely agree that happiness is a result of being healthy and managing stress well. To some, happiness found in living health is a life with no stress at all. They say that when one is truly happy there is no such thing as stress, only challenges that make living more adventurous, full of health and fun.

Worrying is one major cause of stress. My son has this version of a famous phrase, Why worry, be happy! And it’s true, why worry of things that have gone bad in the past and things that are not yet here today. Living health is also about not worrying. Worrying won’t change anything, instead make a step today to change our way of living starting with our health.

Here are some living health tips that will help our body in the pink of health and perhaps clear up the woryywebs in our minds.

Living health experts say we should always eat our breakfast every morning. Research has proven that people who eat their morning meal tend to take in more vitamins and minerals, and less fat and cholesterol. This results often to a leaner body, lower cholesterol count, and less chance of overeating. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and drink lots of water through out the day.

Love it or hate it - exercise is a big part in living health because exercise is good for blood circulation! We need to exercise regularly especially for some of us who have a sedentary (desk-based) job. Walking is a good form of exercise.

Enough ZZZs in living health is very important. Sleep is essential to good health and to mental and emotional well-being.

According to a study published in the American Journal of Health Behavior, March/April 2004 issue, communal activities are good for our physical and mental health. Join a club, go to church, volunteer. Living health is also about healthy relationships, healthy conversations, and healthy mind and body activities with people.

Living health is a long-term commitment, not a flash-in-the-pan fad. Our lovely talk here is just glimpse of how we can make today healthier than yesterday and pave the way for a better tomorrow.
