Frizzy hair

Body News

I love it but others hate it, frizzy hair. I am one the many women who have been blessed with frizzy hair. Blessed? How can I say blessed when others who have curly tresses or locks often suffer the annoyance of frizzy hair. Curly hair is very delicate by nature and when it becomes dry and damaged, the curls frizz out and eventually lead to split-ends. This leads to the bad side of having frizzy hair, it not only looks unkempt, it also makes the person look much older.

I had my share of bad frizzy hair days, who hasn’t? But since I am one those that had it since birth, I grew up with frizzy hair as a blessing and learned how to manage it and use it to my advantage rather than suffer from hair frizz.

How did my frizzy hair become a blessing? Less use of hair brushes, blow dryers, and not having any treatments that has something to do with chemicals and heat. And of course, I had several trial and errors with shampoos and conditioners. Believe it or not, now that I am in my 30’s, I often use the baby shampoo of my two year old precious girl more than I use my beloved Pantene, Herbal Essences, Sunsilk, St. Ive’s or Head & Shoulders (I switch to different brands as my frizzy hair gets to become greasy when I use only one brand for a long time.)  But then, this is me and as the saying goes, everybody is unique, frizzy hair included as there are many reasons why hair can go frizzy.

Here are others who found a way to manage frizzy hair with some tips or products they used.

From Liz of Florida:  I have fine, but very thick very frizzy hair because I live in humid Florida. I used Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Frizz Control Shampoo, I thought this would be awesome and it is. My hair feels fantastic lush and healthy, but after a few days I noticed my hair is getting greasy faster than usual. Now that maybe because the weather is getting warmer or it's the shampoo. So I think I will try different kinds of Restoratives but because I love the price and the smell I may always have this brand in stock.

David John, Serge Normant at John Frieda, L.A. used Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Curl Defining Lotion and said it "Controls frizz without feeling sticky."

Valery Joseph says that VO5 Detangle & Shine Daily Leave-In Conditioner “Replenishes moisture that styling aids have stripped away."

A clarifying shampoo is essential for anyone who uses heavy hair styling products on a regular basis suggests Jet Rhys, owner of the Jet Rhys Salon in San Diego. He recommends using this type of hair care product once a week to get rid of buildup and helps to restore softness and shine especially to frizzy hair. The use of a wide-tooth comb is a good choice for getting out knots after the shower because it is less damaging than a brush on wet hair, which is particularly vulnerable to damage.
