Anti-Aging Cream
There are many kinds of anti aging creams, and each brand or type of cream serves a very unique purpose. Here is a detailed analysis of 4 of the most common types of facial creams and the general functions of most anti aging creams or their many different ingredients.
Moisturizers:
Many anti aging creams contain some kind of moisturizer or skin conditioning agent. And some moisturizers are so good that they can anti aging skin care products by themselves. Either way, they serve pretty much the same purpose – revitalizing dry or flaky skin, and replenishing the necessary oils that are sometimes washed from the skin as a natural consequence of using harsh cleansers and toners that have a high alcoholic or acidic content. Moisturizing your skin consistently keeps it soft and very supple and less likely to develop wrinkles or fine lines. Also anti-aging creams that moisturize the skin add a certain elasticity that helps to protect the skin and promotes skin cell regeneration, while helping to retard spotting.
Cleansers:
Cleansers when it comes to best anti-aging creams do exactly what it sounds like they do – they remove dirt, grime, and pore clogging muck from the face. Anti-aging cleansers clean the dirt oily make-up, bacteria and anything else that make the face more like a chemical waste dump.
Many of the anti-aging cleansers out on the open market today are much too harsh on the skin and kill not only the bad bacteria but also the good bacteria. Most times you do not need a harsh acidic cleanser on your face like you would to wash your hands or scrub the bath tub. Smooth, baby like-skin requires measured gentle treatment. Extremely harsh products like micro-beads and level five exfoliates for example, may be good for inconsistent treatment (like waxing your car) but they're usually way too harsh for most people's everyday use. Also beware of other anti-aging products that can be very hard on your face are "peels".
Toners:
There are various kinds of toners in anti aging creams. More often than not, toners remove all occurrences of dirt, make-up, oils, bacteria etc. caked on your face after you've used a harsh cleanser (or an anti aging cream with a mild cleanser in it). Even though toners can serve many other purposes they are primarily good for removing contaminants from the skin.
It is good to remember that some toners restore the protective layer that shields us from many contaminants but once it becomes toxic to the skin it can be easily removed by harsher cleansers. Some toners do a great job balancing the pH of your skin.
Exfoliants:
Exfoliants in anti aging creams have one primary purpose to remove the outer layer of dead skin cells. Unlike cleansers, toners, and moisturizers can be used much more often and in many situations twice a day. Many people use anti-aging toners in the morning when they get up and at night right before bed. Exfoliating is usually good to use about once every few weeks, and definitely never more than once a week. Dead skin cells are constantly peeling and flaking and need to be removed. But living skin cells can be damaged by harsh anti-aging cleansers and cannot be exfoliated daily.
